AntiSpyWare FAILS TO FIND ALL SPYWARE

B

Brian Paterson

AntiSpyWare failed against XoftSpy rather miserably.

The following were encountered immediately after running
AntiSpyWare:

WinRes Hijacker - reg key (1 place)
WildTangent - reg key (3 places)
WildTangent - reg value (1 place)

Any comments Microsoft?

and your point is?

continue to use XoftSpy if you satisfied that it works better than MSAS

There's a misconception hanging around this news server.
Many think that MSAS can replace all existing software to prevent and clean
spyware.
Personally I run as least 6 applications including anti virus to protect my
system

Have you tried posting your problems
not related to MS AntiSpyware to
news://msnews.microsoft.com

and please don't bother to send me private mail
because I don't check my mailbox regularly

Hi Brian,
If you run into these critters again, please submit a Suspected Spyware
Report from the toolbar.

The best way we can analyze is if you submit a suspected spyware report from
the tools menu.

Not only that AntiSpyware lists non spyware files as
spyware including our Gold Edition files that never have
included any adware.

From : Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) identifies a program as a
spyware threat
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=892340

" Vendor dispute process
Vendor disputes are instances where the vendor of a product disputes the
detection or the classification, or both, of the vendor's product by
Windows AntiSpyware (Beta). A vendor of a product may want to file a
dispute under either of the following circumstances:
• The vendor believes the listing in the signature library is incorrect.
• The vendor has recently updated the behavior of the program.
To file a dispute, a vendor must first fill out the vendor dispute form.
To obtain the vendor dispute form, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.spynet.com/vendors.aspx

All the required fields in the form must be completed before the Windows
AntiSpyware (Beta) research team can initiate an investigation. The
research team will confirm the receipt of the completed vendor dispute
form by sending an e-mail message.

When it is required, the research team will request additional
information by sending an e-mail message to the contact information that
was provided in the vendor dispute form. When the analysis is completed,
the research team will send an e-mail message with the results to the
submitter. Telephone calls or other direct inquiries are not accepted.
We will make every attempt to speed up the process and respond in a
timely manner.

Decisions about vendor disputes are made based upon the following:
• The analysis of the program by the research team.
• The Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) signature criteria and detection
technology as of the date of the analysis.
Decisions are subject to change if the vendor makes changes to a program
or as the signature criteria and detection technology evolves. "
