Anti-Virus

I run AVG 6.0 automatically daily but a window repeatedly
appears telling me there is a virus in 'system/volume'
and to run AVG to get rid of it.
as the anti-virus runs daily why does this message appear
and if there is a virus how do i get rid of it?

Same problem here and also running AVG 6.0 with latest
updates applied. AVG popup says Ralpha.A trojan/back door
is in System Volume Information folder (in one of the
restore points).

When I try to open up the folder (after having turned on
the ability to view it and it's files in folder options) I
get Access Denied error.

Note that the original infected file has been deleted from
my system by AVG. Full system scans turn up no virus
found - I am sure AVG can't get into the system volume
info folder any better than I can.

Has anyone else had this problem and does someone know of
a solution??? At wits end on this.

Turn off system restore.
Run AVG
Turn on system restore

Greetings --

The System Volume Information is the hidden, protected operating
system folder in which WinXP's System Restore feature stores
information used to recover from errors.

To clear viruses from the "System Volume Information," simply turn
off the System Restore feature (Start > All Programs > Accessories >
System Tools > System Restore, System Restore Settings), reboot, then
re-enable System Restore, and reboot one last time. This will delete
all of your Restore Points, including the corrupted one(s), and allow
you start with a clean slate.
