another program is trying to automatically send email on your behalf

Lewis Jones

I am running Windows XP Home with Office 2000 Premium.

I have upgraded to Outlook 2002 for the sake of my Pocket PC.

When I do a mail merge from Word (using an Access database), I get the
following message:
another program is trying to automatically send email on your behalf

I do frequent, large e-mail mailouts and cannot afford to click 'yes' every
five seconds to get through the merging process. I am aware of the ClickYes
software, but the free version doesn't remove the wait just the click, and
that isn't good enough for large mailouts.

I appreciate the fact that I could pay for the premium ClickYes software,
but I somehow revile against the idea that because Microsoft doesn't know
how to let even its own programs interact securely, I have to pay to fix
their problem. Sorry...

I am aware of the fixes for Exchange servers, but I am a private user and
send my e-mails to a *.pst file. The only hint of hope I have found is from
a fellow named Jourdan Saegusa who posted to this list saying 'we went
through the same problem when we upgraded to outlook 2002, but was able to
find a registry update to disable this "new feature".'

Can anyone point me to that 'registry update'? I can find nothing about it
on the web.

Has anyone found any other solutions for non-Exchange users?

Thanks,
Lewis

Are you up to date on Office XP service packs and choosing HTML as the format for the merge messages? Under those conditions, you should get no prompts on a merge.
