Annoying Ads/Programs

P

Pikaboo

Every time I start up windows XP , an microsoft yes/no
box pops up saying "would you like to try casino online".
I have looked to the left of the clock on the taskbar,
and there are no minimised program icons there (except
for windows messenger which is suppose to be there).
There isn't even a single program opened. This ad started
popping up ever since I went to a certain website that
filled my computer up with unwanted favourites, icons,
etc. Is there any way to get rid of this ad? Any help
would be appreciated.

That's a Messenger Service window. It has nothing to do with MSN or Windows
Messenger.

Applying the WinXP firewall to your connection will stop them.

Greetings --

For pop-ups caused by some sort of "adware" and/or "spyware" that
you've inadvertently installed, two products that are quite effective
at finding and removing scumware are Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.de and
SpyBot Search and Destroy from http://security.kolla.de/. Both have
free evaluation versions.
