So far it's doubtware for me.

doubtware! Is a great definition.

Actually things are the following:

It contains bundled software (not spyware) but installation is opt-in
and you can remove them at will without removing FreeRIP.

License says you can use it as is for free for an unlimited amount of
time (I mean not an evaluation period or similar). Registration is an
option to get additional feautures, but the only additional feature is
"disable the splash screen" (!).
I have not a name for this kind of license. Maybe we coul call it
"splashware" :)
Anyway is more like a freeware than other kind of licensees.

Best,

MG

I nominate the term "Option Ware" or "OpWare" for short.

Would love to know what programs the "bundle" contains :)

During installation, before any files is copied n your system, there is
a list (of course since you have to choose whether to install it or not).
Anyway it includes MySearch toolbar and Comedy-Planet access software.

Best.

Would love to know what programs the "bundle" contains :)

Searching the net a bit showed their software used to come bundled with the
MySearch toolbar, as an optional install.
IIRC this is a b*tch to get rid of, even if it is optional, still don't
like it.

I've had a closer look at this. It is definitely not freeware; it is
quite an odious thing really.

Ok, MG can say: "Anyway is more like a freeware than other kind of
licensees." but it is essentially a spyware/adware app.

The 'opt-in' bundled software is aimed at lazy/ignorant users who simply
click through install boxes accepting what they are given. (If it was
really 'opt-in' one should have to manually tick the boxes - as it is
they are pre ticked). Accepting the software gave me a MySearch toolbar
on IE which immediately called home to 'install buttons'. Apparently it
will call home at intervals to 'look for updates' also. The
Comedy-Planet thing refused to install for some reason. I coped. :)
Comedy-Planet is some sort of ad funded outfit which uses cookies to
determine a few user frefs in order to target ads efficiently. I
couldn't find any info on the site as to how MG gains by bundling their
software, but presumably he will be along soon to tell us.
The MySearch people tell us continually that they are not adware or
spyware. And it is easy to see how MG benefits from associating with
them:
=========================
Make money from your downloads!
Monetize your downloads by bundling the My Search Bar application within
your installer file. As our partner, you'll share in all My Search Bar
revenue generated by your users.
==========================
http://www.mysearch.com/jsp/mail_form.jsp

When MG pops up again he might want to tell us how much revenue he
gets...

Perhaps he can also tell us how the MySearch people know about income
generated by 'his users' if they are not spyware :)

But anyway. The MySearch toolbar is an optional install, isn't it? It
has not been mentioned yet that FreeRIP has search bar of its own. Guess
where it connects to? MySearch. Yes, yes, yes... it can be removed

On launch FreeRIP called home to check for an update. This behaviour can
be turned off. It also called freedb.org. (An email address is required
in 'options' to submit to freedb.org) This behaviour can also be turned
off.

By now you will be getting a picture of how many things need to be
turned off, or opted out of, to get this thing to behave.

On the GUI of the app is a 2 cm squared clickable logo which directs to
the app home site. There is also a clickable URL which directs to MG's
main page. All of his apps are bundled with crap; I had a look at
FreeNote, which is an underfeatured stickynote app. It is bundled with
the MySearch bar, but, as we know - this is an opt in. An interesting
feature of this note app is the ability to highlight some text and
'search the web'. Guess which part of the web it searches? LOL.

Well. That kept me busy for a while on a cold rainy evening.

Just the OP's name alone qualifies the program as

Anyway it includes MySearch toolbar and Comedy-Planet access software.

From a spyware site:

MySearch Toolbar:

Description

An IE toolbar providing search features, and a
homepage-/search-hijacker, targeted at the sites run by MyWay. (The
same people as iWon.com, writers of the Aornum parasite.)

Variants
MySearch/MySearch was the first variant, targeted at mysearch.com.
MySearch/MyWay uses different filenames and is targeted at myway.com
itself.
MySearch/MyWeb is a new variant targeted at mywebsearch.com.

Also known as
MyWay Speed Bar.

Distribution

The MySearch and MyWay variants have been bundled with Grokster,
Morpheus, WeatherBug, and software from mgshareware.com. MySearch has
also been installed by the FavoriteMan parasite.

The MyWeb variant is bundled with software (Popswatter, SmileyCentral,
My Mail Stamp) from “Fun Web Products” (also the same people as
MyWay).

What it does

Advertising
No. (The search results may contain advertising, but the toolbar
itself does not generate any.)

Privacy violation
No.

Security issues
Usually, no. There is an update feature, but it prompts you before
running code.

In some versions of the MyWeb variant, yes: it is installed by an
ActiveX downloader control which stays around leaving a backdoor for
future installation. In newer versions, this control does not remain.

Stability problems
None known.

Removal
Open 'Add/Remove Programs' in the Control Panel. Select the 'My Search
Bar' (MySearch variant), 'MyWay Speed Bar' (MyWay) or 'My Web Search
Bar' (MyWeb) entry and click 'Remove'. For the MyWeb variant, be sure
to also remove 'Fun Web Products Easy Installer'.

You can then reset your home page (Internet Options->General->Start
Page) if it has been changed, and search settings (Internet
Options->Programs->Reset web settings).

In other words, take your crap and shove it!

Your company associates with known spyware and parasite makers and has
been known to install same.

So **** off!
