It probably depends on which 3200, but the AMD Athlon 3200 is, I
believe, a 90mm process CPU, whereas the Athlon X2 4200 is 65mm, so,
based on that, I'd guess that the 4200 would, in general, run cooler.
Look in the desktop section. Just click "View results" and all the
desktop processors will be shown. You can see some power numbers there,
for the various models. Select your socket, via the menu on the left,
to narrow down the search. Use the "compare" column, to select
a bunch to compare in detail.
There are several versions of both CPUs, ranging from 59-89 Watts thermal output
on each one. So, depending on the specific model number of each one, there may
be some difference.
OTOH, you should be able to replace even a 59 watt CPU with an 89 watt CPU with
no problem, unless your installation is marginal in the first place. The stock
heat sink/fan on the retail box version of wither one should be adequate.
