"Allowed Items" empty; no "Allow Always" option available

It is very frustrating to keep Allowing a given file; why is there no "Allow
Always" option rather than just "Allow" or "Block" in the Real-Time
Protection?

I am running in administrator mode;
Windows Defender Version: 1.1.1347.0
Engine Version: 1.1.1603.0
Definition Version: 1.14.1708.6

Nothing really to add except that I've been having the same problem. No
matter how often I check "Allow" it keeps popping up everytime I log on and I
can find no way to add it to the "Allowed" list. Wish I could. Nothing in the
"Help" to describe how to do it (that works anyhow) and nothing here (back
over the first 25 pages) either.

Dave,

I checked this link but it was no help as the item being flagged is a ".lnk"
in the/my Startup folder which seems to be a (more-or-less) frequently
reported thing here. Also, it wouldn't let me drill any deeper that the
folder itself so I couldn't specify the ".lnk" file itself, only the folder.
Guess I'll just have to live with it until something better comes out.

Thanks for the help.

David
