all programs keep re-opening

When I open a program, any program, it keeps re-opening
and re-opening until I use all my cpu space. Also, when I
click 'start' and then 'all programs' - all I have to do
is move the cursor and whatever program it points to first
automaticaly opens -- without any click of the mouse!!!
Did full virus scan and XP Recovery. To no avail. Any
ideas? Yes, I have removed several viruses.

This may sound really dumb, but have you used another
mouse? If the mouse is not working properly or is
physically damaged, the actions you describe would be
produced. It's as if you kept the mouse button down all
the time. I'd try another mouse or get your drivers
updated if you have a third-party mouse - especially a
wireless mouse.
