All of the sudden OLXP crashes constantly

Don't know why or how and it's very erratic. I ran scanpst - found minor
errors which it fixed. I have run detect and repair several times. I
downloaded all the recent patches/service packs.

Is there a way to uninstall JUST outlook and re-install, then use my current
PST file? Or is it tied to the whole MS Office XP thing (I hate the way they
do that)?

If I leave it idle for any amount of time, then try to Send/Receive or Send,
I get this message:

The operation failed due to network or other communications problems. Check
your connections and try again.

Then it stops responding and I have to terminate and and restart OL. This is
driving me nuts!
