Outlook 2007 constantly crashing with Vista HP after reair install

I had a problem with my installation of Vista Home Premium where by it wasn't
installing updates. After working with MS Support I finally did a "repair
install" and this fixed the updating problem and Vista when off and installed
the backlog of 61 updates. However now Outlook 2007 constantly crashes.

I get a dialog box telling me "Microsoft Outlook has stopped working". If I
clear that dialog box it's back again about 3 minutes later and so on ad
infinitum.

After a few of these the diagnostic tool ran and found no problems. I've run
a repair install of the whole office suite, I've uninstalled Outlook and
re-installed. Still the same symptoms.

Is this something anyone can offer any advice on? Is there even a way of
getting more information on what the problem is?.

Reapply the latest Office SP to see if that helps. Failing that, try
creating a new profile.

Outlook doesn't even stay open long enough for me to get to the menus to
create a new profile.

The event viewer says:

Faulting application OUTLOOK.EXE, version 12.0.6423.1000, time stamp
0x49b08185, faulting module OUTLOOK.EXE, version 12.0.6423.1000, time stamp
0x49b08185, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00648d1a, process id
0x133c, application start time 0x01c9de280f7ee524.

It doesn't give any more information that that.

Running scanpst.exe seems to have allowed Outlook to start although I've
lost 75% of my calendar entries.

I can at least export them from my work system.

There should be an eventID and source.

Use the Control Panel > mail applet instead.

EventID 1000 and the source was helpfully "Application Error" but I've got it
running now after a scanpst

Ta for the suggestions.
