Outlook Problem that has me stumped

L

Les Herrman

Hoping someone can help me out here.

All of a sudden Outlook will not get my mail for me. It errors out
with the error message

Unknown Error 0x8007007E

I searched the MS Knowledge base and did not find anything specific
for this error.

Things I have tried so far....

Checked to make sure the username and password was correct.

Ran the detect and repair which Office said repaired Office 2003
sucessfully.

Ran the scanpst.exe (inbox repair tool) on both .pst files (Have 2
profiles)

Scanpst said it found errors in the files but that it repaired them.

It is not a problem with the server as Outlook Express will get my
mail just fine.

Anyone have any ideas???? I can use OE but just prefer Outlook and
would like to get this repaired.

Well it was weird. The problem has now been fixed and it seems it all
had to do with the Junk Mail filter.

I decided to go to Microsoft Update (usually do this every Sunday
morning)

Update downloaded a new junk mail filter for Outlook. This was the
only update for Office it downloaded and installed.

After it did this, Outlook then worked just fine, so I guess it had to
do with the junk mail filter being corrupted or something as this was
the only thing that changed.

Thanks for replying and making some suggestions though!

Have you contacted your ISP to see if they have any problems or have changed
the authentication required to access their servers? Have you tried
removing and reinstalling your accounts?

Les, thanks for your post. I had tried yesterday with one of our computer
club member's computer. When I saw your post this morning, I called and made
another "house call" and did the Office Update. FIXED!
