All-In-Wonder, Video Capture, and WinXP

Tom

I am considering purchasing a new ATI All-In-Wonder 9000 Pro board to
replace my Radeon 7500. I am mainly wanting the All-In-Wonder board for it's
video capability. I have a new DVD-RW drive and I want to convert a lot of
VHS and Super-8 videos over to DVD. I was looking into the USB 2.0 type
break-out boxes (such as the Dazzle or VideoH!) but to get a decent one I
would have to spend around $150 and I can get a new AIW 9000 for that same
price.

I am assuming that the All-In-Wonder 9000 does allow one to hook up a VCR or
camcorder to it and it can capture video from that. My question is: Is this
true? And if so, how well does it work? How good are the video editing tools
included? How good is the captured video? Does it save in MPEG-2 format? And
how well does that captured video display on a regular TV (when written to
DVD)?

Anyone with any experience with this, please reply with your comments, as I
would like to pick up the board sometime this week. Thanks a lot in
advance! :)

P.S. This will be run on a AMD 1GHz with WinXP Pro. Also, does anyone know
if MS MovieMaker will work with the ATI AIW board?

I have been considering the exact same thing for about 2
weeks now for the exact same reason. I have been looking
at www.newegg.com and reading the user ratings for several
boards but can't decide which one. A lot of people report
that ATI's drivers and Win XP do not work well together
althought ATI released new drivers a few weeks ago, I do
not know which drivers people are reporting about. I
asked ATI and they said all the "wonder" boards will
capture from VHS as MPEG2, I would have to assume the
quality of the capture is based on the quality of the
source. This probably doesnt help you but I am interested
in hearing from someone who is using this product.

thanks, db
