All in one HP office jet 6110 does not recieve fax with Windows XP

I have a HP all in one office jet printer and when I hooked it up to the new computer with Windows XP on it, I can,t receive a fax. The incoming call gets a busy tone. If I turn off my computer then I can receive a fax. I have disabled the firewall on computer but no luck. The computer and printer share the phone line via a double adaptor for phone lines. Any clues on how to fix?

This falls under "duh".

Fax transmissions do not go through your computer, they go directly to the
fax machine. Therefore, if you are online with your computer, and your
computer shares that same phone line that you have given as your fax line,
the fax being sent to you will not be able to get to that fax machine and
instead get a busy signal. No different than if someone were trying to
phone you at the number of the line used by your computer. The line is in
use and therefore "busy".

If you want to be able to receive faxes while online to that fax machine, it
needs to be on a separate phone line (different telephone number).
Alternately, find some fax software for your computer that you can have
running all the time that you are online and will receive the faxes on your
computer instead of the fax machine.
