Album Info for Compilation CDs

L

Lynn Henderson

I have ripped tracks from a compilation CD that WMP didn't recognize. I
had originally entered all the information manually, but recently
transferred my files over to a new computer. Now, WMP9 thinks the album
is the original album of the first track rather than the compilation.
Even when I try to change the data under "Find album info," it always
comes back to the album of the first track.

However, what I really want to do is have each track show as if it came
from it's original album rather than a compilation, but all the tracks
seem to be linked together such that if I change the info for one track,
all of them change to that album. Is there any way to "break" this
relationship? If not, I'd settle for getting the compilation album info
back.

Thanks.

You cannot change or delete information on a CD-R only on
a CD-RW. What you can do is copy the disk to your
harddrive then edit/change the info and burn a new CD-R.
You can rightclick an MP3 on your harddrive, click
Properties then the Summary tab to edit each song under
the Value column.

The MP3 files in question are on my hard drive. But since they were
ripped from the same CD, they are all linked together somehow. When I
do a "Find Album Information" on one MP3 file, they all get the same
album information (which is incorrect) regardless of whether I move the
files into different directories or not.
