Hi All

My system is as follows

P4 2.4 533
Asus P4C800 mb (Using On Board Audio)
1gig PC2700
2*Maxtor 160 Sata hdds(Booting off Sata)
1*80 gig Maxtor Ata Hdd
Sapphire AIW Radeon 9000
Pioneer 105 DVD -RW
Pioneer DVD Rom

My problem is having installed the AIW and the supplied software, the
mmc suite seems to work for a short time after startup, then it ceases
to work altogether, click on TV ver7.9,File player ver7.8 icons and
nothing happens, restart the PC and it works again for a limited
period, I have tried the various releases of this software all with
the same results. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Regards.

JD.

You've tried various releases, but have done a really clean uninstall at any
time before installing new drivers?

Like this:

=======================================================
How to Do a clean install....

Uninstall all ATI items from Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel, do
not reboot until all ATI have been remove.

Reboot the computer

Click start.
Search or Find Files or Folders
Type in ATI*.* and then say find now.
Once all items have been located be sure to check the items to make sure
that they all start with ATI and nothing else.
If all items do start with ATI then go to Edit/Select all and press the
delete key.

Now do the following
Go into C:\Windows\Program files
Delete the ATI multimedia folder if found in explorer if not go to the next
step

Now run regedit from the Run box
And go to the following keys and delete the folders
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ATI Technologies
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ATI Technologies
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\0000\ATI

Multimedia Hardware
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\0000\ATI

WDM Configurations
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\ATI
Close the regedit and reboot the computer.
=======================================================

I believe the latest drivers now a proper uninstall routine, but have never
tried it myself so don't know if it actually works!

Why are you using MMC 7.9, JD? AFAIK that version is intended for TV
Wonders (we suddenly seem to have people reporting this problem here. It
would seem some manufacturers are for some reason supplying MMC 7.9 for use
with AIWs).

I would suggest taking yourself to the ATi driver site at
http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html and availing yourself of either MMC
7.7.0.1 (the last 7.x version for AIWs) or one of the MMC 8.x versions. All
free to download except the DVD players. While you're about it, I would
suspect you're probably not already using up-to-date drivers: pick those up
too.

Thanks for the info, using 7.9 as it came on the cd supplied by
sapphire, also tried the 3.8 drivers and the MMC 8.x Version, however
I didnt do a complete uninstall as has been described, I'll give it a
try.

Hi Again

I have just carried out a full re-installation of Win Xp and installed
the latest drivers and mmc as suggested, the only thing working out of
the multimedia programs is the library, there's no tv\cd\player etc.

Anyone got any ideas as to how i can get this piece of C**P working as
intended, If you have I would love to hear them.

Regards.

Does your CD entitle you to download the MMC 8.x DVD player, then, JD? And
did you have DirectX 9 and Media Encoder 7.1 installed before installing
MMC - 8.7 I presume?
