After XP SP2, modem only connects at 33.6K all the time!!!!!!

Please if someone can help... I searched all over the web trying to find why
my 56k modem that for years connected at 50 to 52k, now after updating to XP
SP2 not only connects only at 33.6k ( on two different providers ) but even
the sound when connecting is strange now. Please if someone knows the
answer, it would be of great help. Thanks.

Go to the website of the modem manufacturer and get the latest Windows
XP modem driver.
