after win xp REPAIR INSTALLATION

hi
i just did a REPAIR INSTALLATION which fixed some issues i had with my
mouse / keyboard

now the internet explorer is VERSION 6 which is understandable. but
the IE.exe file is now a HIDDEN PROTECTED SYSTEM file which is not
visable by default. thats weird why is that ?

(also the windows media player needs to be re installed. everytime i
try to open i get a message to download and install it. even though
folder and all files seem to be there !?)

Thats where a "repair" installation gets you.For about the same time spent
you could of done a clean xp install...
