after vacation most subscription type emails no longer come in

ike so many of us - I have usually been overwhelmed with spam, junk and
sometimes email lists I have signed up for. It has not been unheard of for me
to get over 100 emails after a one days absence of checking email.
Just returned from a 9 day vacation and was surprised to find only a handful
of emails. Test emails to myself come through just fine. Had my husband as
well as a friend send me test emails and they came through ok too.
But since our return I have onlly had one or two ad emails from amazon and
that sort of thing.
Im not really minding the lack of spam etc - but this is just plain eerie.
Sorta like a twilight zone.....
any suggestions?
Thanks
I tried connecting directly to my server adn the same thing

Is this a POP3 account? Ant spam program, especially on the server side?
The only thing I can think of trying is to keep checking your server's
Webmail site for any incoming mail inconstancies.

Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced - Check: Leave a copy of
messages on the server. Check also to Delete messages after about 5 days.

Check the Webmail site daily and see if there are any messages there you
did not get in your WinMail Inbox. Maybe you just got lucky? Doubtful, but
you never know.

It is entirely possible that your email provider is filtering spam; perhaps
it is entirely coincidental that the filtering began when you went on
vacation. Is it possible that you modified your email settings in your
provider's server in a manner that you did not expect it to have that
affect? If you don't mind speculation, one wild theory is that there was so
much spam held by your email provider's server for you that they decided to
implement spam filtering.

Thanks Bruce

Yes it is a pop3 account.

I think I may have done this to myself. Just before we left on vaca Id been
bothered with WM not doing the auto fill feature on people Id not emailed for
a while. Did some research and saw that the particular feature I wanted was
on windows live mail. So I downloaded WLM and thought I was so smart knowing
the pop-server address and smtp-server address as well as port #s.(I am not a
real novice to computers - but I am by no means a expert techie that knows
the ins and outs of this stuff- I know just enough to get myself into
trouble!)

I did that stupidly the day before I left.

Also stupidly - I wanted to experiment with away messages and tried to do it
with message rules.(I have since found out there is an easier way to do it by
logging on to road runners webmail.)

My daughter said that day she got a bunch of emails from me with the away
message - but curiously there were several of them - with the subject line
from an email she sent me several months ago.

I am just not understandiing the randomness of this. My sister in law has
sent me several emails that I am not getting - but my brother sent me one
that came in fine.

I have checked that the info is correct in WM and that it is the default
email.

I have gone to my WLM account and deleted it and any settings that were on
it I deleted first.

Thanks in advance for help you can give me!

Uncheck any rules you made for starters. If you had both WinMail and
WLMail running at the same time, unless you had "Leave a copy....."
checked in both programs, only one of them would get each message. The one
that downloaded it first. Any chance that explains any of this?

I think it is very well possible I changed settings - Id been playing with
changing from windows mail to windows live mail.

Spent a good deal of time with road runner yesterday and as far as they can
tell everything is working fine on the server. they sent me a test email and
I got it immediately. My sister in laws emails dont come in and I am not
getting my usual facebook update notifications. I checked on this forum where
it asks if I want to be notified of replies - and I didnt get that.

What a dummy I am!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any help you can give would be GREATLY appreciated!

As at least one of the other responders asked (but you never answered),
are the missing messages showing up in your Roadrunner webmail?
Windows Mail/Windows Live Mail can't download what isn't waiting to be
downloaded from Roadrunner's server.

You are probably familiar with the Junk E-mail folder, but if not then look
there.

Since you "played around with your settings" check the RR site login for any
SPAM / JUNK settings you may have enabled. If you checked a whole series of
emails and then noted them as "Junk" or "Spam" you may have inadvertently
included mail from your sister-in-law or whomever. You may have to get into
those settings and "unblock" certain senders.
