After System Restore how do I put back my backup files to new prof

Hi.
I have question on how to put back my backup files onto my new profile.
I just did a system restore and backed up my files, because when I logged
onto my laptop, windows wouldn't load and shows a black screen with a a box
saying to wait and windows is loading, but it doesn't. Now that I restored my
system, all my old configurations are gone and my softwares... I can't open
up my adobe photoshop, because the serial and user name is not found. I know
I could just drag my applications onto the new profile and install, but is
there a way to put back everything the way it was?? Thanks. I hope I made
sense.

Usually a system restore does not create a new user and installed software
do not disappear. How did you backup? How did you restore?
