Here is a report.

What do you mean by "reinstall" Did you do a CLEAN INSTALL of
Windows?

If you did that, you are stuck with a system that has NO programs that
you previously had installed and NO data files for those programs.

Which means that you're f***ed.

UNLESS you did a full backup/image of your system.

IF you did that, restore it and run a REPAIR install of Windows.

I did Full system Restore (With Backup).
The files are backed up in my C drive.(C:\MyBackup ) folder. I can see them
there.
I need to restore them now but as I said I can not.
Thanks for your help,
Natis

The backup utility in XP does not do full system backups and restores. It
does file backup and restores. Did you use the Windows backup utility or a
third party progam (and if so, which one)?

The Full system Restore (With backup) is part of my Gateway computer.
It uses the windows backup utility and does file backup. It worked but now
I can not Restore my files. As I said, I can see them in the backup folder
but ?? I can not restore them.

Doing a backup of your system is the right and commendable thing to do.

Now consider this: Your hard disk fails and is completely inaccesible. You
install a new hard disk drive. Now how are you going to restore your
painstakingly made backup?

The backup needs to be on completely separate media.

Not only that: It needs to be ***tested***. An untested backup
is a hope of a backup, nothing more.

And a good suggestion here would be to get an external USB hard drive
enclosure, and use it only as needed for backups (otherwise keep it powered
off).

Works really well for me - (especially for a HD Image backup, using Acronis
True Image). :)
