After long inactivity, puter won't respond

Very frustrated: I leave my office computer running all the time, so that I
can access it via gotomypc.com. Many times, however, when trying to
remotely access, I'm told my computer is "offline." When I return to the
office, the computer is still "on" -- that is, the green light on the front
is lit -- but the computer doesn't respond to ANYTHING.

Mouse movement, mouse clicks, keyboard strokes. No response. I even tried
insert ing a CD, to see if it would read it and "auto-run." Nothing. (No
green light to show that it was even reading it. And no sound or activity
in the drive.) Same result with the floppy.

The only way out is to press the power button, shut down, and boot up.

I've checked the XP Event Log, and nothing suspicious shows up.

FWIW, I've checked the power options, and made sure that the hard drive and
the montior are set to never shut off. "System Standby" is set to "never."

I've had this problem for a while, and it's very frustrating. (Also, FWIW,
the mother board and processor were just replaced, in connection with
something else. The problem existed well before that, and I thought maybe
this problem would go away also. But, not.)

Please help!!!

Thanks.
Ken

Can GoToMyPC program cause your computer to go unstable?
Check this service by connecting to your computer from other computer
near so you can see what really doing on your PC.
Is your PC go unstable when you not try to connect it?

Check your BIOS power settings.

Good luck!

I have this same problem but don't run gotomypc.com. It only happens to me
when I leave it on a web page. I can leave it on my desktop or other windows
page and it operates fine. I use XP Home Edition.

I don't think it really has anything to do with gotomypc.com. I mentioned
that simply as the reason that I need to leave my computer on when I leave
the office.

I've posted this problem before, but got no solution. I'm hoping that
someone can come up with something useful this time!!!!

Thanks.

Are you by any chance using a wireless keyboard/mouse? I get the same
condition after about 30 minutes of inactivity.

I am having the same problem with my computer. It happens while I am in the
middle of doing something so I know it isn't related to inactivity. Did you
get any advice that helped you solve this problem?

How much RAM (Random Access Memory) do you have? Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to
select Task Manager and click the Performance tab. Under Commit Charge what
is the Total, the Limit and the Peak?

How large is your hard drive and how much free space?

What is your CPU processor speed? Right-click on your My Computer icon on
your Desktop and select Properties to get this information and the amount
of RAM.

Also, have you tried looking in your System Event log?

"How to view and manage event logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP"
