Hi -

I have been having a majorly unpleasant time after trying to upgrade first
Symantec AntiVirus Enterprise Edition (SMTP gateways, Exchange 2000), and
then Symantec Corporate Edition. The former didn't seem to cause problems.
But when I upgraded the latter (8.1->9.0), it didn't seem to finish
installing properly - it left me at a dialogue saying it was installed at
100% - I had to press Stop->Cancel to get out of it. When I rebooted, my
real problems started. It seems that I am unable to stop or start
services - any services. It just shows the progress bar, which after a
minute or so, goes to 100%, and then says it hasn't stopped. After this, I
am unable to enumerate services in the GUI - it freezes.

I have tried to uninstall Symantec Corporate Edition, but it too freezes at
the "MSI is looking at your installation" stage.

Has anybody come across something like this?

Thanks,

M

Actually, I didn't upgrade the AntiVirus Corporate. Because I didn't have
the password, I uninstalled the old, then installed the new.
