After emailing Word doc, incorrect Table of Contents page numbers.

Hello,

I am aware of the known issue regarding the incorrect page numbers
displaying within the Table of Contents of a Word document after it is
emailed to another person if the document is opened directly from Outlook
with Reading Layout enabled. I am also aware that the fix entails the
recipient to either save the Word document to their hard drive or network
drive prior to opening the file or unchecking the, “Allow starting in Reading
Layout†option within Word.

I’d like to know if there is any information regarding a fix that will not
require the recipient to take the steps mentioned above. So far, the
information I’ve found suggests that no other fix is in the works but I’d
like to ask to know for sure.

Thank you,
Craig M.

There is no fix as there is no issue. The page numbers in the TOC refer to
printed pages and not to displayed pages. There is also no need to change
any settings to close the Reading Layout for a single item; there is a
button to close it.

Also note that it is not up to Outlook but to Word to determine how the file
is opened. If you need a fix, you'll have to raise the issue in a Word
newsgroup and not in Outlook.
