Aero not enabled after installing RC2

In the previous releases Aero was installed but now that I installed RC2 I
can't enable it.
My graphics card is ATI Radeon 9600 SE with 128 MB of memory, DX9 compliant.

Why this happened and how I can enable Aero?

I realized that is a problem that is going to be fixed in RTM, but I tried
the workarounds posted on the web and didn't work. I installed the ATI
drivers and still the same.

This workaround worked:

1. Ensure that you have the following registry value set to :
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\Composition set to 1 (32-bit DWORD)
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\CompositionPolicy set to 2 (32-bit DWORD)
2. Restart DWM by opening a command prompt with administrative privileges:
- Type 'net stop uxsms'
- Then 'net start uxsms'

Some people say that the issue is on systems with 512 Mb RAM but I have 767
Mb...

It's a problem with less than 1GB of RAM. That is MS minimum recommend RAM
for VISTA.

My system is: 2GB ram and a ATI x600 256 mb and Areo did not work. The reg
hack worked..

The minimum ram is 512MB. The recommended ram is 1GB. Unlike XP, in Vista
the desktop is rendered by the GPU on the video card so the system ram does
not play an important role in displaying Aero Glass. The video driver is
probably the issue.

Hi,
Taken from VISTA web site MS establishes that a VISTA capable machine
requires minimum of 512MB of RAM but to have premium capablity (e.g. Aero)
should have 1GB RAM.

"A Windows Vista Capable PC includes at least:

A modern processor (at least 800MHz1).
512 MB of system memory.
A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable.
Windows Vista Premium Ready PCs
To get an even better Windows Vista experience, including the Windows Aero
user experience, ask for a Windows Vista Capable PC that is designated
Premium Ready, or choose a PC that meets or exceeds the Premium Ready
requirements described below. Features available in specific premium editions
of Windows Vista, such as the ability to watch and record live TV, may
require additional hardware.

A Windows Vista Premium Ready PC includes at least:

1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor1.
1 GB of system memory.
Support for DirectX 9 graphics with a WDDM driver, 128 MB of graphics memory
(minimum)2, Pixel Shader 2.0 and 32 bits per pixel.
40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space.
DVD-ROM Drive3.
Audio output capability.
Internet access capability."

That is the minimum for a new PC to be allowed to have a "Vista Premium
Ready" STICKER put on by the manufacturer. It is not the minimum to
install or run. The minimum to install or run (Aero/Glass) is 128MB of
video memory and 512MB of main memory. And there is a patch (registry
edit) to run Aero/glass in a system with only 64MB of video memory,
although there are some use restrictions and it's not recommended.

How does one find this patch for 64mb cards like mine?
