Aero glass is gone???

I installed Vista Ultimate (oem) on mij old 80 GB hdd. I had lots of problems
(continues errors and bleu screens) and finaly I discovered that my hdd was
broken or not up to date. So, I got a new hdd (the best I could afford:
Western Digital, wdc wd1500ahfd-00RAR1 sata)
But...after re-instaling windows vista ultimate on the new drive, I
discoverd to my dismay that the aero-glass theme was gone,and I can't find it
anywhere on my system!

It used to function pretty good on my old hdd

How can I get that aero-glass theme and the 3D flip back on my pc

pc specs:
Gigabyte MOBO , GA-8I865GME-775-RH
Intel pentium D 3,4GHz dual processor
2 GB dual channel Ram
Radeon 9600 series 128 MB graphics card

Right click the desktop, personalize, window color and appearance, check the
box that says "enable transparency".

That's just it! I can't!
All the features of aero glass are gone.
No theme, no window colour and apearance, nothing there.....
It used to be there, when I installed vista ultimate on my previous hdd, but
it's no longer on my system after I re-installed vista on my new Western
Digital 10000 rpm HDD.
And the strange thing is: I only replaced (upgraded) my harddrive. So...it
should run just fine, but it does'nt.....

Try refreshing your Windows Experience Index rating and see if it fixes.
Click Start > type "Performance Information and Tools" hit enter, click the
Refresh Now button, it will run a few test then close. Open back
Personalization > Themes and see if the option for Windows AERO appears. If
it does not, you might need to restart.

Hey Darkbreed, Dip350 provided a useful link for trouble shooting and
enabling AERO, might worth taking a look:
Yes, and it still was not available as a choice when selecting Colors.
However, I continued to do some more research and finally came across a
white paper from Microsoft called Windows Vista Rules for Enabling Windows
Aero. Here is the link:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/display/aero_rules.mspx

I am getting the same problem. There just is no option to have the aero glass
theme.

It was working fine last night. I turne don my pc and it shut down on the
login screen. This, I was informed was to do with outdated graphics card
drivers. They have been updated but I now have no aero theme. I have no
option to choose transparency and only have vista basic theme.

I have tried all the solutions offered but none have worked.

My Windows Experience scores are...

Total = 4.4

Processor = 4.4
Memeory = 4.7
Graphics = 5.9
Gaming Graphics = 4.9
Primary Hard Disk = 5.3

Please can someone please help. Is there not a simple option to download the
theme?

Thanks

I have sorted it. After updating the graphics card drivers my monitor had
switched to medium (16bit) colour depth. It is now back to 32bit and working
fine.

This may be the problem for others, hope it works for you too.

hi i had the same project and wish to help u with a cure i found for this vista aero gone error...

just go into your video driver control pannel and set the color from 16 bit to 32 bit then the problem should be fiixed as soon as u click apply, after that your screen will flash and aero will appear... unfortunatly mine had this issue because my laptop overheated in a 16 bit game and the settings never went back when it bombed itself... i hate when a pc fan fails and u need an externa fan dont u... well sorry for the side track just that should fix it... :D
