does anyone have any idea about the x300 gfx card? I know she wont be gaming, but for high quality images that is a bit of a budget card i would imagine? Or am i talking crap?

Seems OK - ensure they place the OS and any software on the 80GB HD, and leave the 250GB HD empty, but formatted...:thumb:

I think the graphics card should be OK for the purpose, especially as you are not gaming.

I suggest an Asus A8N-E motherboard & any PCI-E graphic card ... at least then you can upgrade repectively.

I still think she should go for 2 HD's - one dedicated for her image/music storage...

I am a semi pro photographer (manslave too for the missus) and use 35mm and scan my negatives to hard drive for processing with photoshop CS. Based on my experience, you would need at least
  1. CRT 19 inch monitor (not one of those flat LCD ones).
  2. 500meg of RAM
  3. 1gig cpu
  4. 128 meg AGP video card (4x speed is ample)
  5. Two hard drives (one for storeage and the other for your OS)
  6. USB slots at front of your chosen computer (easier access)
Photoshop CS needs a seperate scratch disk to that the OS is running on. Otherwise it will run slow. You may get away with just getting another hard drive and use this for your storeage and scratch disk if your specs allready match or exceed what I would recommend. Get back with a reply if you need more info ;)
