Over the next month or two I'm going to be re-doing the room with all the computer stuff in it and would quite like to get the wired network up to 1000Mbps.

I'm tempted to get just a decent ADSL router (range is probably the most important aspect for me, as it's not great on our standard o2 router) and then link this to a separate gigabit router which I'll just use for the wired hardware (2 PCs and a NAS).

Any suggestions or recommendations on a decent ADSL router?

ok, I may have missed the memo, but AFAIK, modems/routes will only transfer data at 10/100Mbps, they ain't no real home user 1000s. Won't you need a second mortgage? I do remember a Cisco on sale for £3k :)

and don't forget to replace the std lan 'card' in the PC, and the cable will have to be upto 'spec' also.

Oh, my BT modem is a 10/100/1000Mbps.

I dunno, I just stuck with 'home hobby' stuff, never needed a lan party.

I advise doing a bit of research on plausibility of a home user actually achieving 1000Gb ... been a long time since I looked at any of that tech. :)
