Adobe Reader problem

I have XP Pro Sp2 running IE 6.0 sp 3 and had recently had Adobe Reader 6.0.3
which worked fine. Most Recently I installed Media Player 10 (download) and
shortly thereafter I began to have problem with Adobe when trying to open
some pages that previously displayed. This site suggested I upgrade to Adobe
Reader 7.0 and I tried unsuccessfully. Later I tried again and in fact
uninstalled and reinstalled AR 7.0.5.
When I try to access this page which previously displayed, I get a blank
page. If I click on another link on that page, it locks up to where I must
use Task Manager to close. This creates IE to close, the pop-up indicating
there is a problem and do you want to send to Microsoft. If you click Send,
it starts but never advances to the "connecting to server" portion and after
waiting forever, you have to hit cancel to end. All other facets of my PC
seem to work just fine. Is my problem with Windows Media Player 10 and
conflicts with Adobe Reader 7.0.5 Are there any other suggestions.
My system is a P4 3.0 Gb on an Asus P4P 800 SE, has 1 GB 3200 Ram and has
been operating for about 14 months, relatively troublefree. I have Norton
Antivirus uptodate, and is protected by Norton Personal Firewall, Spybot
Search & Destroy 1.4, AdAware SE Personal Edition, & Microsoft Anti-Spyware
Beta 1 all of which I keep up to date. Any help will be greatly
appreciated.

i can't offer any advice, but i seem to have a similar problem, read my post
two posts above yours in the list. i wonder if there are any compatability
probs like you say
i have a fairly clean install of XP (i.e. new laptop this week) and i have
updated everything, had this problem of locking up,and had to do system
recovery, which i wasn't too bothered about as i'd hardly started to use the
damn thing, but i don't feel like doing it again.

Have you tried system restore? i think i will. I must remember to set
restore points more often. maybe it's just a bug we need to wait for
microsoft to fix, i dunno. read my post entitled "processes still running"

ceedee in reply to rainbow child:
I can't see any other option than to do a System Restore. I hate that as I
had to do it once after accidentally deleting some code after inserting a CD.
It took a while to get everything back in order, therefore the reluctance.
I will continue to search for an alternative and in the end may just do a
complete format and reinstall although that is a Drastic but probably best
remedy. Still looking for answers and perhaps it is just IE which is screwed
up even tho it works for all except .pdf files as far as I have determined
