what is happening when you try? Which error message is given?
Are you downloading from
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash ?

I get a message sdaying that I may need to click the gold bar at the top of
the browser window to allow the install but I haven't got a gold bar
anywhere. I'm using IE6

try downloading the installation file directly from here:

Put the URL of the original download site (probably www.adobe.com) into your
Trusted Sites. (Make sure the box at the bottom "Require server
verification..." is unchecked.)

I'vce done that JCM and still no joy. Looking at the Vista chats it seems
that a lot of users are having this problem.
