Thanks ju.c Followed your instructions and all worked fine until today
when I went on YouTube and the message was on screen again '' you either have
java turned off or install latest version of Adobe flash player''. I assume
that as all worked ok for 2 days the java side of things must be 'on'. How
do you check if its on or off ?

Something may be blocking Java or Flash. If they are being blocked you'll get a message to install them even when they're installed.

Did you try to set your Internet Zone security to default?
In IE open Tools\Internet Options\Security press button "Default level".
Then go to Advanced (Tools\Internet Options\Advanced), scroll down to Java and see if the check box is checked.

Is the above OK?

Enable "Active scripting" to allow javascript to run. It is not in the
Advanced tab, it is under custom settings for the security zone such as
"Internet zone" or "Trusted Sites".

"On the Advanced page I dont see java."
If you don't see Java listed then Java is either not installed or is
damaged.

"It is not in the Advanced tab"
Simply an untrue statement.
Read this page and say sorry, chasuk:
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/enable_browser.xml

From that page:
----------------------------------------------
Please follow these instructions to enable the Sun JRE though your Web
browser:

Internet Explorer 4.x and Up

Click "Tools" --> "Internet Options"
Select the Advanced Tab, and scroll down to "Java (Sun)"
Check the box next to the "Use Java 2" version
Next, select the Security Tab, and select the "Custom Level" button
Scroll down to "Scripting of Java applets"
Make sure the "Enable" radio button is checked.
Click OK to save your preference.

Yes, what happened? I have XPSP3 use AOL & IE, having similar problem
(video viewing on utube) after loading SP3 and (stupidly) deleting some java
updates which I did not realize I needed. Don't know for sure what caused
problem. Got similar message at utube when trying to play videos --
uninstalled and reinstalled adope flash player with no success. Also turned
off and on some script functions in IE tools. Thanks for bringing up the
Java connection.

After reading all these Flash player posts, I feel capable of trying your
two solutions, and I will test after each. Then will uninstall/reinstall, if
still not working and repost. Thank you.
