Once again, I cannot download Adobe Flash Player with my IE7. I started the
"Prompt" alerts for Active X (drives me nuts), but nothing changed. I've
downloaded it, and uninstalled it 4 times, w/o success. (It was removed in
Add/Remove programs in error.

Is there another Flash Player we can use besides a "Big Adobe" program?

thank you, again

Have you looked at:

I note that you have also posted to the IE Newsgroup.

it is unclear at to why
the flash player stopped
functioning.

however, since you made
many attempts to install
and uninstall,

there is likely an accumulation
of registry keys pertaining
to the failed attempts above.

so I suggest to run a registry
cleaner to remove the
bad keys.

my usual recommendations
are "eusing" and microsoft's
online registry cleaner.

afterwards, reboot and
then try TarArian's link
since Adobe are the experts
with their flash player.

hope this helps.

Do you click on anything to install the ActiveX control once you get the
prompt? Which prompt are you seeing: the thin bar at the very top or
your browser window (right under the tab) or a separate window?

That's not clear. You can only uninstall it if it was installed in the
first place! What exactly do you mean? What do you mean there was a
listing for it in Add or Remove programs "in error"? (If it was in the
list, that means it was installed!)

Not if you want to see Flash content.

It's hard to say without looking at your PC, but what might be happening
is you *were* installing it and one of your other programs has been
preventing you from seeing the content. What are the names of *all* your
anti-malware programs? What kind of Windows account do you use: a
limited user one or an administrative one? Did you run Adobe's special
Flash remover before attempting to redownload and reinstall Flash?

Yes, I did post there, realizing I may have had the wrong NG - thank you.

Yes. The window offers a choice for Active X on that site, or "NO"

Separate pop up (after I changed the property in Security Settings, per
Adobe.com instructions, to "Prompt"

The Flash Player was removed via Add/Remove Programs by mistake. I am
vision-impaired, utilize adaptive software, and thought it was the pdf
reader.

Ad-Aware, Spyware Blaster. (also have HighjackThis for when it's needed)

Sole user at home (using an HP Business Desk Top)
Did you run
Adobe's special Flash remover before attempting to redownload and

Yes.

Thank you.

Thanks for posting inline, which makes it much easier to communicate.
Just make sure to put a blank line in between paragraphs to make
everything much easier to read.

SpywareBlaster has a feature called Flash Killer. The good news is that
this feature can be turned on and off. Click on Tools. Then click on
Flash Killer.

I understand you are the sole user, but you need to tell me what kind of
Windows account you use. Is it "Limited" or are you a "Computer
Administrator"? If you're not sure, go to:

Control Panel | User Accounts

Can I use this after AF has been downloaded and apparently works?

Yes. However, I prefer another program called TurnFlash, which does the
trick much quicker:

I'm not sure what I did to help, but you're welcome. :)
