Adobe acrobat reader-Windows installer

Guest

I tried to install the free version of Adobe acrobat reader on my Dell-Windows XP professional and I am having trouble. I can download the files to the desktop but when I try to install I get an error message that I am either running in Safe Mode of my Windows Installer is not setup properly. I know that I am not in Safe Mode. Any help in correcting these settings woould be appreciated.
