trouble downloading adobe reader

I am having problems installing adobe acrobat reader 7. When I try to open
the download it tells me there is not a program associated with it and to go
to folders options and create an association to run the program. I recently
had to reinstall my Windows XP Pro, which before I reinstalled, adobe worked
just fine. Anybody know what I need to do to create an association in the
folders options to correct this? Thanks in advance

That file has an .exe extension and should install after download with
no problem. Did you download it then try to install, or did you attempt
to install from the click of the Download button? If given the option,
try to download, then run from your desktop. If your download had other
than an .exe extension, what was the extension? If an .exe, I suspect
it was a corrupted download and you may need to download it again.

The file name is "AdbeRdr708_DLM_en_US ADM Extractor", when I run I gives me
error message to associate the file and the last error message says "Unable
to launch AOM File. CreateProcess return code: 15066692". I dont think its a
bad download as this is the 10th time I have downloaded it directly from Adobe

A Google search netted this:

"The reason you are getting the error is because the Adobe Download
Manager cannot find a program to associate with in order to launch and
download the Reader. You can bypass this by downloading directly from
the ftp site. Use this address: <http://tinyurl.com/lcfvv>
When you go to that site you will immediately be prompted with a file
download box. You can choose Run but I recommend saving it to your
desktop and then running the Reader install from there. good luck! "

Finally got it to go. I went to Adobe and had to install version 6. Once I
installed version 6 version 7 completed the install. Thanks for your
suggestions, you gave me a lead to what I needed to do.
Thanks
Charlie
