administrators password

I installed the recovery console for XP, when
prompted for a password I hit "enter" because I have never
set an administrators password. The reply was wrong
password and after three attempts, the computer restarted.
I am the owner and I did never set any passwords ! What am
I to do?
I am trying to fix the dual boot to allow WIN 98 to
dual boot with XP. WIN 98 is on a seperate hard disk and
the only way to boot up with it is to unplug the XP hard
disk. I had XP and WIN 98 working as dual boot , but the
hard disk with XP failed and I bought another HD for XP. I
can either working fine by unpluging the other. How do I
get the dual boot prompt back so I may choose?

See my web site, www.dougknox.com and go to Win XP Tips

For Win9x/Me: Install 98/Me after XP is Installed.
For Windows 2000: Install Windows 2000 after XP is installed.

For the Recovery Console issue, log into XP using any account with
Administrator level access. See www.dougknox.com, Win XP Fixes, Enable
Administrator Account on the Welcome Screen. Run this utility. Now, go to
Control Panel, User Accounts, and you'll see the Administrator account
listed. You can now change/assign a password for the built in Administrator
account.

Note: Heed the warning, in User Accounts about stored passwords for the
built in Administrator account. If there are any other stored passwords
(web sites and etc.) they will be gone.
