Administrator and Fast User switching

I like the classic Windows Logon but I also need fast user switching now.

If I use FUS then I don't get an Administrator logon. And I don't want to
ceate a new user for myself.

Is there a way around this and hang onto the Admin account and have FUS?
have seen something about this here before - but can't track it down.

Thanks in advance

This might be what you're looking for:

Enable Adminstrator on the Welcome Screen

Display Adminstrator on the Welcome Screen

Show Administrator on the Welcome Screen

Good luck

Thank you - that's just what I needed.

The other thing I miss is the old shutdown screen which has Hibernate
available as an option .
I know you can hibernate using SHIFT and STANDBY
and
I know you can also use a VB script with send keys but is there a REGEDIT
patch out there as well?

As far as having Hibernate as a seperate button in "Turn off
computer", I have no idea.

The closest thing to that I've ever come across is to create a
desktop shortcut with the following command in the target box:

%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe PowrProf.dll, SetSuspendState

Once you've created the shortcut, you can drag and drop it on
the Quick Launch bar so that it's at least in the same
neighborhood as the Start button. You can also change the icon
to something more appropriate from the
C:\Windows\System32\Shell32.dll file.

You might want to post that question in a new thread.

The shortcut key is active. Press H and it will hibernate even if showing Suspend.

You should NOT use the built-in Administrator account for day to day use.
Why? Firstly, if you do, then if you get hacked, the hacker can do ANYTHING
on your computer. Secondly, if the administrator profile gets corrupted,
then there is NO WAY into your machine other than a repair install of XP.

Create a user account for yourself, and give it Admin rights if you REALLY
need to, but do NOT use the built-in administrator account.

I have posted this in the NG (without much luck) but thought this may follow
on in this thread.

I find that with Fast User Switching and the Welcome screen turned on - the
computer after a few minutes of idle activity goes to the login/welcome
screen. Is it possible to stop this from happening and just stay open on
the desktop?

I don't have standby switched on.

Thanks,

John

Display applet>Screensaver tab - uncheck the box requiring the password
when resuming from the screensaver.
