Administration Tools Bug ??

Papa

In another thread posted several days ago and entitled "Administration Tools
not accessible", I posed the question as to why clicking on the
Administration Tools icon in the Control Panel resulted in nothing at all.
There was only one response in that thread, and that response was from
someone who misunderstood the question.

What amazes me is that NO ONE has responded to this specific problem. Surely
I am not the only one on this planet who has ever encountered it?

As I said in the previous thread, the Administration Tools icon is shown in
the Control Panel. It just doesn't do anything when I click on it. I can
easily get to the administration tools by clicking on START / ALL PROGRAMS /
ADMINISTRATION TOOLS, but it would be nice if the Administration Tools icon
in the Control Panel would bring up those tools as well. Right now clicking
(or double clicking) on that icon has no effect. If I could, I would just
delete the icon, but I can't even do that. By the way, I am the
administrator.

Doing an extended search on Google resulted in not even a hint as to a
solution.

It won't answer the problem but you can simplify it by creating a shortcut
on the desktop.

Read my post again. I already have the Administration Tools icon in the
control panel. The icon simply does not work.

As to your suggestion, under "Customize", "Display on the All Programs menu
and the Start menu option" was already selected. Just for the heck of it, I
tried "Display on the All Programs menu", and of course it didn't work
either.

Thanks anyway.

Right-click the Start button, and then click Properties. On the Start Menu
tab, click Customize. On the Advanced tab, under Start menu items, click
System Administrative Tools. Click to select either the Display on the All
Programs menu or the Display on the All Programs menu and the Start menu
option. Click OK , and OK again to save the change.

Sounds like you have a corrupted file somewhere. I've never seen this in
any XP installation.
