Admin account locked - Repost due to no solutions

I am unable to logon to the Administrator account, unable to access the
administrator user properties, unable to change the administrator password
and in trying to do so I get a "internal error".

Yes I am an administrator on that PC, no it is not a domain PC and yes other
accounts work just fine.

when you change the administator you need to shut down and log in as that
personality your auto updates will take over and change whatever might have
been altered

What happens when you try to logon? You seem to be able to read minds by
answering questions that have not yet been asked, however, we are not mind
readers..of course I can only speak for myself...so could you elaborate
please?

Cannot log on, invalid password. When trying to reset password I get the
"internal error". Cannot access properties of the Admin account, same error.
I suspect corrupt sam which in most cases I would just delete the user and
start over however you cannot delete the administrator account on XP, at
least thru the gui.

Speaking of gui, yes I have tried to command line the password change, again
same error.

This does not solve the problem of not accessing the administrator account.
I need access to that account as services are set to run under it if for no
other reason.

Changing or adding administrator group does not change the fact that the
Administrator user account is locked, corrupt or whatever. I need access to
that account.

Why are you using the administrator account. You shouldn't be. Delete it files or view the log at %SystemRoot%\Debug\UserMode\Userenv.log

Setting up another user and putting them in the Admin group does not solve
the problem of the Administrator account being hosed. As far as logging on
as Admin it says I have the wrong password which as I said if I try to
change it I get an internal error.

Okay, see what you think about this...from one of the other
accounts...hopefully one of them has admin. rights, other wise this won't
work..there is a way to set the logon to automatic..and if it works, once
that is done you can reset your password.
