admin$ access not working, getting username of guest prefilled

Hi,

I am trying to access some XP and 2k systems that are not on any domain with
\\ip-addy\c$.
when the login window comes up it has the username of \\ip-addy\guest
pre-filled and it's greyed out so I can't change it.
The password field is blank and white ready for a password.
The issue is that no password works, not the admin or any other password.
Funny thing is that not all the system that are not on the domain have this
issue, so something must be set wrong

Any help here would be great as I am at the end of my rope trying to figure
it out.

Thanks

Andreas

It would seem that the remote system is using guest authentication.
In such a case, XP requires the password for the guest account. None other
will work.
If the remote guest account has no password, then just press enter.

Hi,
I guess I should have said that the guest account is disabled, so there is
no password set.
