Address list cant display when I click "To" or "Cc"?

Error reads this and goes on to say Contacts folder associated with this
address list could not be opened. May have been moved or deleted or may not
have permissions. But I can see my contacts when I open them in Outlook.

I wasn't able to get that to work. When I start a new email and click the
"TO" button, I get the error below. When I click "OK" to close that out,
the "SELECT NAMES" dialogue box opens with nothing listed. In the "SHOW
NAMES FROM" box (top right) I can select Outlook Address book and also
Contacts - but they are listed twice! The 2nd Contacts has all my data. So
it seems like I've got it in there twice and need to remove the blank one
but can't figure out how to do it.

I guess I need to know how to "Remove the Outlook-Address book "?

Depends on your Outlook version, which you have consistently neglected to
mention. If it is Outlook 2007, you cannot remove and re-add the Outlook
Address Book Service. You must instead create a new profile.
Do us a favor. Don't post a question without posting your Outlook version.
Saves us all some time.

Of course. Now how many users will be able to do that successfully? Creating
a new profile is much easier even if it is not mandatory.

He must have 2003 (or an earlier version), otherwise he hadn't written
"I got it! Thanks.", but he had determinded that deleting the address
book doesn't work :).
You must instead create a new profile.

Not mandatory. Deleting the profile entry for the Outlook address book
using [1] is enough.

You assume users are willing to DL and install a utility that edits their
registry.

Why not? It's a simple removal of two entries: Higlight both entries for
the address book and click the delete button, that's all.

Adding a new profile would also imply that you have to re-create the
email accounts, porting data of the old profile's pst-file, etc. In my
opinion higlighting two entries and clicking once on a button is much
easier :).

Any way, the simplest method would be doing it in Outlook itself ¡V when
the developer of Outlook finally would fix that bug :).

Yes! It's only a download, they needn't reinvent the wheel...
and install a utility

Not necessary. It runs without installation
that edits their registry.

Only Outlook's profile key that is already damaged ;-).

Agree completely. But bear in mind that Microsoft has conditioned most end
users not to edit their registries with Draconian warnings of what might
happen if they do--even if they have an expert like you helping them along.
Creating a new Outlook profile is a blunt instrument indeed, but not a
difficult one. I always prefer a scalpel like yours to the hammer of a new
profile. Even better would be for Outlook's developers to fix all these
annoying problems. Hasn't happened in 10 years. Probably won't.
