Hi everyone, I am new here and I have a question. I like to keep an eye
on what my kids visit when they are on line but for some reason the
address bar isnt holding any information so Im unable to view anything
once they are logged out.
Does anyone know how I can change that to keep the addresses coming up
all the time. Also there is no history coming up either.
So I cant find where they have been.
Thankyou so much.

Hi,
You need to trun on AutoComplete On to do that:
- Click start >> Control Panel >> Double Click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window
you will see these Options:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs
| Advanced .
Click on Content Tab, then click AutoComplete Button, there you can turn on
Web addresses and Forms.

Then click on the General tab and see if the History been set to low number
of days and turn it to 30 days.
Click Advanced and scroll down under security and uncheck this Box:
[ ] On exit empty Temporary Internet Files.
Again these will leave your system bloated with junk you may don't need, so
Content Advisor will be excellent choice for you=
"HOW TO: Use the Internet Explorer 6 Content Advisor to Control Access to
Web Sites in Internet Explorer"

You need to configure all those settings as said by "Nass". However, if your
kids are smart enough they can change them any time they wanted. I think they
are clearing the Internet History after surfing the net, so you can never
know which sites they have visited and it can be easily done by going Tools -
Internet Options - cicking Clear History button.

To prevent your kids from clearing the History, you can try the following
trick. Click the following link and goto Line No. 101

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Click on " Prevent IE History Being Removed" not on "Undo".

When you are asked click the Run button. This tweak will disable the Clear
History button from Internet Options. There are methods too to clear the
history but there are not so easy. So this trick can prevent them to clear
the history.

Hope this help, let us know!

Thannkyou both for all the information. I have tried both of your
suggestions and everytime I close a window down it still deletes
everything, even what I go on. Do you think something has been
downloaded to delete history and address bar?
The address bar when I look at it is stark white. It has no addresses
in there even when I have been on 4 or 5 websites and when I go on
history its completely blank too.
I have no idea. This has been going on for 3 weeks now and no one seems
to know why its happened. My kids are in their teens so I am sure they
know what they are doing, but I have a 4 year old too who uses the
computer for cbeebies.

Its really frustrating not knowing whats happening on the computer.

I think that some program is being installed to automatically clear the
history. Check your System Tray (near the clock) while surffing internet, see
if any new icon is there. See the link below. This program has a lot to offer
to clear your Internet History. Maybe this could be the same case with you
too.

http://www.clearallhistory.com/

You can also try opening Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - see if any
newly installed program is there. Sort them by "Date last used".

Let us know!

No if it on the Tools option, no they got an application to clean up after
they done there search.
You could look in the Add/Remove programs in the control pane like this:
Click start >> Control Panel >> Add/Remove programs and look for any
Programs that clean history.
By Resetting the Web Settings the Add-Ons been Disabled, but they will
enable back or reinstall the Program, best to remove the program and assign
them limited Account on that machine through the Group policy:
Click start >> Control Panel >> User Account or open a run command and type
in:
gpedit.msc click [OK] and there locate their accounts and change
permission, you need to be logged as admin to do that or your changes will
not take effect.
Good luck.
