Address bar searches stuck on MSN???

I just reinstalled my operating system and I can't get the autosearch setting
to go to google. It's stuck on MSN. When I select anything other than MSN
and then go right back into the autosearch settings it's right back on MSN.
What could be the problem, cause it worked before I reinstalled the operating
system. I have SP2 if that makes a difference, had it before as well.

This .vbs file from MVP Kelly sets Google:

"Make Google Your Default Search Engine".

I'm referring to when you do a search from the address bar. Does that VBS
dealy fix it?

Before I could just type in whatever into the addressbar, like "microsoft is
the best" and it would bring it up in google. There's a part in the search
settings entitle autosearch where you can set the adress bar search. Why
would it change and why would I now have to put the g before any search? I
also tried using the google reg edit file and that gave me an erroe sayign
that some of the registry keys were in use.

Hi Drew,

You may also give Quero Toolbar a try, which is an alternative and more
powerful address bar. It adds a drop down menu next to the address field
where you can choose the desired search engine on a per search basis.

Be more specific. Where are you seeing this option?

What happens if you start your search request with a question mark (?)
or one of the words find or go?

If you have installed the IE5 Web Accessory Quick Search.exe
you could see the extra search commands you have active such as g
BTW g is not one of the default ones installed by that tool;
so you much have picked that up in some other way.

I

Perhaps you have some other program active trying to prevent such
registry modifications. Try rebooting in safe mode and doing it then.

Good luck
