Adding HP printer

When I try to add a HP printer, HP does does not appear in
the manufacturer's list. Where is the OS pulling that
information or is there a file I can replaced to rebuild
the database.

Just download the new driver and extract it. Choose another location during
the driver install and point to that location.

The list of drivers that comes with the OS is contained in the file NTPRINT.INF. If HP is not listed at all under the
Manufacturers list then it is possible that this file has been modified or corrupted.

If HP is listed but your specific printer is not there then we would need to download the driver from HP, which will come with
its own INF file.
