Adding HP 1022 printer across network

I have an HP 1022 printer connected to a Dell Inspiron PC running Windows 7.
I have addded it to another PC that is connected to the first across a
wireless home network. When I print from the second PC, it shows up as
printing, but doesn't actually print until PC 1 is re-booted.

How do I get it to print correctly?

I had a similar problem . I have a Laserjet 1020 and Canon MP 510 connected
to my Win 7 / 64 bit desktop and shared wirelessly to my Win 7 starter
netbook.
The Canon works perfectly on both. I downloaded and installed the 32 bit
driver for the Laserjet. The status shows READY and when I print , the job
is sent to the printer ( appearing in the queue ) but the printer doesn't
activate until rebooting.

I disabled firewalls , re installed , even called HP who basically said it's
a Win 7 problem and they wouldn't help.

Don't drive yourself insane , you won't get it work work ( but if you DO ,
please post what you did !! <G>)

I'd remove the printer drivers and reinstall the latest. If that fails
I'd either reinstall Windows or buy a slightly less cheap printer (P2055?)
I avoid such problems by connecting the printer directly to the
network rather than through another PC. Whether you can do this
depends on the printer however.

The HP LaserJet 1022 appears to rely on "host based printing" - this
means it can't be attached to a network using anything like a JetDirect
(internal or external). I agree with your practices though.
