Adding hardware choices; how is the list updated?

I'm attempting to get my system to recognize my scanner since updating
from WIN98.

During the process, the dialog asks me to select manuf. and then
device model. Hewlett-Packard is listed, but my scanner isn't. How is
that list updated? - Mike

I would contact HP for help with this. I think if the scanner is
comapatible with Windows XP, they will provide drivers for it on their
website.
