adding a new Win2k server

I have an win2k server , this is the DC , i want to add a
new server on my net same OS cause i need a vpn server, I
installed the win2k server in the new machine but when i
try to connect to the domain i can't , when I try to
assign a domain in the Identification Changes window from
the system properties , a window appears asking to me an
user an pass for "enter the name an account with
permission to join the domain" then I give an user and
pass of an account, this account exists in th DC server ,
then this message show up "the following error occurred
attempting to join the domain "my_domain" the network path
was not found" , the only place where I can assign the
domain name is in "workgroup" text box but if i try to
access by "Computer near to my" y get this
message "my_domain_name is not accesible the list of
servers for this workgroup is not currently available"
I can ping all computers in the domain also the DC
server , but I still not get into the domain, also checked
my hardware end all of them is compatible.

I will apreciate any help

One possibility is that you are entering the domain name wrong. In active
directory, the domain appears in two forms, for example: domain.whatever.org
and DOMAIN. If when you start to type the domain name in the box all the
letters come out in small letters, you have to use the first form. If the
letters come out CAPS, even though the caps lock is not on, you have to use
the second form. Make sure you can ping the domain controller first. Also,
if you have the domain admin name and password, use that.
