Adding /3gb Switch in Vista

Guest

Greetings,

How can I add the /3gb switch in Vista Home Premium like I did in XP's
boot.ini?

Adobe After Effects now only sees 2gb of my 3gb of memory. It was able to
see all 3gb of memory after I added the above switch in XP.

I know about BCDEdit but I don't know how to use it to add the /3gb switch.

I do not have a dual-boot system--only Vista.

I have VistabootPro 3.1.

Thanks,

Jeff

I found out how to add the switch in Vista:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa906211.aspx

At the command prompt [cmd.exe] type in:

BCDEDIT /set increaseuserva 3072

This assumes that you have 3gb of ram and want applications that can address
1 GB of additional virtual address space above 2 GB to use this ram. Some
Adobe products can address this memory space amoung other apps.

Hello,
This settings has no assumption on the amount of RAM in your system. You do
not need 3 gig or ram in your system to change this settings
This simply changes the allocation of address space from 2 gig system and 2
gig user to 1 gig system and 3 gig user.
This also will have the effect of reducing the amount system resources(
desktop heap, paged pool, System PTEs, etc) since allocation of address
space is now down to one gig.
