/3GB switch on Windows XP PRO with more than 1 gig of RAM

I know that on the /3GB switch should be used on servers with more than
1 gig of ram, but how about a Windows XP workstation with more than 1
gig of ram? I have a windows xP SP 2 machine with 1.5 gig of ram, and
was wondering I need to add /3GB to my boot.ini. I do not have any
performance problems, nor to I receive out of memory messages.

Will it help?

It will not help.

As I understand the workings of this switch the effects would only be
relevant on machines with more than 3 gb of physical RAM.

Good luck

When you have a program that wants 3 GB of address space you use it. Only some server apps use it. It also reduces system address space so many other things mightn't work. It's used when running ONE application on a server and the server can be configured just for that app..

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
