add text on photos

I am trying to find out how to add text on top of a photo and am having no
luck finding out how to do this. Thanks

If you do not have an image editing program...
try using MS Paint...you'll find it at...
Start / All Programs / Accessories / Paint...

Go to...File / Open and browse to the image...

With the image open in Paint...click the
"A" (text button) in the left pane...

Now...left click / drag a box on the image in
the position where you want the text to appear...

Choose a font, size and color...start typing...

If you want a clear text box...click the bottom
button in the left pane.
