Add desktop to Start Menu?

With zillions of programs open, it's often a pain to get to the desktop.
Show Desktop just doesn't work right all the time, failing to restore all
programs.

What I would like to do instead is add the Desktop to my Start Menu so that
it works exactly like Programs, opening a flyout menu of all the items on
the desktop. Not a folder, a flyout submenu.

Possible?

You could the Desktop as a toolbar on the taskbar.

 

[Guest]

1. Right-click on an Empty area of your Taskbar
2. Point to Toolbar
3. Make a check mark on Desktop

Hi Bruce,

"Deskmenu.exe", one of the Windows 95 powertoys, works in XP. It sits in the
Notification Area and gives you the fly-out menu that you want. You can get
it here:

I suggest "save" rather than "run", in a temporary folder (otherwise it'll
get mixed up with your other stuff). Run the file and move "Deskmenu.exe" to
a place of your choice, and create a shortcut to it in your startup folder.
I wouldn't advise using "Deskmenu.inf" to install it, as it's designed for
the Win95 registry. (Someone more knowledgeable than me might be able to
advise you on this.)

Then just delete the temporary folder you downloaded it to.
