AdAware turns my DVD drive into a CD drive?!!

Sorry for the funny subject title but thats whats basically happening...
ok so i'll try and explain as clear as possible my problem.

Recently I have had a LOT of adware/spyware on my computer, I wanted it
removing so I downloaded AdAware personal which is apparently one of the best
adware removal tools out there, along with Spybot S&D (which I also have)...

So I ran them both and found a huge amount of cr*p (excuse my french) which
i successfully proceeded to remove... but there was an unforeseen side
effect, for now my dvd writer will not write to dvd discs! I actually thought
it was the antivius program I had running (EZ Armour AV) because it
conflicted with my cd drives before, but have come to realise that it is in
fact AdAware that is somehow causing this problem...

I restored my computer to a time just before I installed AA and my dvd
writer works fine, but unfortunately all that pesky spyware/adware is back,
and there's only so much Spybot can remove or fix. I really want AdAware
because it seemed to solve my problems almost immediately, but at what cost?
The loss of my dvd writer? Is there anyone out there that can help me with
this problem, please?

Any help is much appreciated

I very much doubt Ad-aware had anything to do with your problem(s), which
may have been due to leftover affects of something Ad-aware removed.

Likewise with Spybot, if you have it fix everything it finds.

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post
